PAST EVENTS
Katie's Poker Run
Gus Lang, owner of Katie's, a well-known bar in Oklahoma City, organized a Poker Run to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma. The Poker Run, which is a popular twist on a classic card game, sends players to multiple locations via motorcycle to pick up cards. The object is to have the best poker hand upon arriving at the final destination. Eighty bikes participated in this event by paying a $15 per person entry fee. Riders started at Katie's, then headed to the Alley Club, the Cross-Eyed Moose, the Hobo, Charley's and then returned to Katie's to collect prizes. Lang also hosted a raffle to raise additional funds at the end of the Poker Run. This creative and fun-filled event raised a total of $4,718 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma!
University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy
The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy decided to reach out to the community and therefore, approached the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma about the Adopt-A-Wish® program. Both the Tulsa and the Oklahoma City campus held silent auction events to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. These auctions were held January 18, 2008 at Skyy Bar in Oklahoma City and at Jewel Bar in Tulsa. In Tulsa, Chairladies Jennifer Thackray and Megan Scott, headed up "Wish Night" and in Oklahoma City Chairladies Trish Hilbern, Nicole Melancon and Wendi Schmid, organized "Rx-A-Wish". Together, both campuses surpassed their original goal to grant one wish and raised money to grant three wishes! Thanks to these students' creativity and determination, three more Oklahoma children were able to experience a dream come true.
