What is Adopt-A-Wish?

The Adopt-A-Wish Program is simple and fun. Your group decides how it wants to raise funds and with the help of Make-A-Wish you’ll select a wish to adopt. If you need suggestions for fund-raising activities or events, we can help with that too. As your project or event proceeds, your group handles the funds. Once the wish is adopted and the actual arrangements for the wish get under way, you forward the funds to Make-A-Wish.

Your support through The Adopt-A-Wish Program offers a child welcome relief from the treatments, hospitals, anxiety, and fear which are so much a part of facing a life-threatening illness.

You can help a child have a happy, hopeful time with family, a time to create lasting memories that will help them through difficult times. It’s a gift of a lifetime!

How You Can Help

Through The Adopt-A-Wish Program you have the ability to make a difference in the lives of Oklahoma children who are battling life-threatening medical conditions. Levels of contribution fall into the following two categories:

WISH SPONSORS underwrite the full amount of a child’s wish and are considered the exclusive sponsor.

WISH PARTNERS underwrite a significant portion of a child’s wish. Their funding is coupled with another donor’s contribution in order to fulfill the child’s ultimate wish.

Upon wish completion, both Wish Sponsors and Wish Partners will receive a special Adopt-A-Wish gift, as well as recognition in our newsletter. All Adopt-A-Wish contributors will also receive the joy of knowing they have made a child’s dream come true and have helped an ill child through a very difficult time in his or her young life.

Did You Know?

-The Oklahoma chapter serves children throughout the state of Oklahoma

-The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma was formed in 1987

-A total of 127 wishes were granted in FY 2005...a 43% increase over FY 2004

-Over 1,400 wishes have been granted by the Oklahoma chapter since its inception in 1987

-The average cost of a wish is $6,500

-The chapter relies on 92 volunteers throughout the state to help accomplish our mission

-The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma is not a United Way Agency

-The chapter is funded through donations from individuals, corporations, school groups, foundations and community organizations Locally, approximately 85% of every dollar donated goes directly to granting a wish.
