The Make-A-Wish Foundation^® of Oklahoma grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since being founded in 1987, our chapter has granted more than 1,700 wishes to eligible Oklahoma children.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation^® of Oklahoma finances its endeavors through corporate sponsors, foundations, service clubs, fundraisers and individual contributions. Money raised in Oklahoma remains local to grant the wishes of children throughout  the state. Make-A-Wish^® is not funded by United Way, nor does it receive any government funding. We continue to make the magic of wishes happen thanks to community-minded corporations, groups and individuals.

The Oklahoma chapter is part of the largest wish-granting organization in the world, with 65 chapters in the United States and its territories, along with 27 international affiliates on five continents. Make-A-Wish^® estimates a positive impact on more than 300,000 individuals each year.

Each year the Make-A-Wish Foundation^® of Oklahoma grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  This is our mission and in fiscal year 2009 through the generous support of Oklahoma donors and community leaders 154 wishes were granted to children throughout the state.  Over the next twelve months, 162 children will receive the gift of a realized dream and wonderful memories to share with family and friends. 

Dedicated staff members and volunteers recognize and honor children as children first and understand that a life-threatening medical condition can disrupt the normalcy of childhood.   An opportunity for a child to engage his or her imagination allows the magic of childhood to return.

It is only with the gift of time and the generosity of this community that these dreams come true, regardless of whether it is a playhouse retreat, a visit to the warm embrace of a grandparent or a trip to the magical world of Disney.
